# Creating an account

Updatr uses **Discord** to sign in. There's no separate username or password to remember.

## Sign in

1. Go to [updatr.merithic.com](https://updatr.merithic.com) and choose **Log in**.
2. Select **Continue with Discord**.
3. Discord asks you to authorize Updatr. Approve it.

Updatr requests only the `identify` scope. That means we can see your Discord user ID, username, and avatar, nothing else. We cannot read your messages, see your email, or list the servers you're in.

## What happens next

If this is your first time, you'll be asked to link a Roblox account before you can do anything else. That's covered in [Linking your Roblox account](/merithic-docs/getting-started/linking-roblox.md).

If you've signed in before, you go straight to your dashboard with everything you already own.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Sign in with the same Discord account each time. Your Roblox link (and therefore your products, licenses, and studio) is tied to the Discord account you used.
{% endhint %}

## Signing out

Use the account menu in the top-right of the dashboard. Signing out clears your session on this device only; it doesn't affect your link or your purchases.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://merithic.gitbook.io/merithic-docs/getting-started/account.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
